SOS push button switches play a critical role in ensuring the safety and control of elevators. These emergency stop switches are designed to allow passengers to signal for help in case of emergencies or malfunctions. Proper installation of these switches is essential to ensure their reliable and effective operation. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to install SOS push button switches in elevators, enhancing passenger safety and peace of mind.

Step 1: Assessing the Installation Location:

Before proceeding with the installation, carefully choose the location for the SOS push button switch. It should be easily accessible to passengers in case of an emergency. The ideal position is near the elevator doors, at a height reachable by passengers of all ages and physical abilities.

Step 2: Turning Off the Power:

Ensure the elevator’s power supply is turned off before starting the installation process. This step is crucial to prevent any electrical hazards during the installation.

Step 3: Removing the Panel Cover:

Open the panel cover that houses the elevator’s control and wiring. This is usually located on the elevator car wall. Gently remove the cover to expose the internal components.

Step 4: Wiring the SOS Push Button Switch:

1. Identify the terminals for the SOS push button switch within the control panel. You may need to refer to the product manual or consult a professional technician for this step. 2. Connect the necessary wiring to the designated terminals. Typically, the SOS push button switch has two terminals: one for the NO (Normally Open) contact and another for the COM (Common) contact. 3. Properly secure and insulate the wiring to prevent any loose connections or short circuits.

Step 5: Securing the SOS Push Button Switch:

Mount the SOS push button switch on the elevator car wall at the chosen location. Use screws or other appropriate mounting hardware to ensure a secure fit.

Step 6: Testing the SOS Push Button Switch:

After completing the installation, turn on the elevator’s power supply and conduct thorough testing. Press the SOS push button to verify that it activates the emergency signal and brings the elevator to a safe stop.

Step 7: Adding Signage and Instructions:

To enhance passenger awareness, add clear and visible signage near the SOS push button switch. Include instructions on how to use the emergency button and what actions passengers should take in case of an emergency.
